March 23, 2017 – Developmental Disability Awareness Reception at the Hyatt was big hit. Thank you everyone who purchased signature cocktails to help support our Project Action fundraiser. Special thanks to Miatta Thomas and Yeaty Kponou of Wholistic who helped to organize a wonderful event. Thanks also goes to Miatta and David Carrington (DC Coalition Board President) for serving as MCs for the event and to Kathleen Bjerknes (DC Coalition Board Treasurer) for taking photos…. 70+ attended the event.
During the reception, we heard from Deputy Mayor of HHS, HyeSook Chung; DDS Director, Andrew Reese: and Project Action Co-President, Thomas Mangrum. We were also honored to include DC Councilmember and Health Committee Chair, Vincent Gray; DOH Director, Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt; DHCF Medicaid Director, Claudia Schlosberg; DHCF Deputy Director of Finance, Sumita Chaudhuri; DHCF Associate Director, Bidemi Isiaq; and ANCOR CEO, Barbara Merrill among our attendees.
This event – in its 5th year – is a terrific opportunity to get socialize with some of our DC governmental leaders in a more informal atmosphere where we can all find common ground in our respective roles ofconnecting opportunities, improving our community and helping to enhance the lives of the District’s citizens.
