Diving Deeper – A new Discussion Series with L’Arche Greater Washington DC
This past Friday January, 21st, L’Arche GWDC hosted their first talk in their three-part discussion series ‘Diving Deeper.’ Topics include storytelling, advocacy and diversity and disability. These inclusive online conversations feature experts in their fields discussing their experiences and insights on disability, advocacy, diversity and more. At the conclusion of the presentation, participants were invited to discuss the material and expand upon what they’ve learned. L’Arche GWDC developed the idea for these events as “we wanted to invite people into deeper dialogue on issues that are important to our community, as well as allow people to get to know us better,” says Mary Ellen Dingley, Communications and Outreach Coordinator.
L’Arche GWDC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides housing and support services to adults with intellectual disabilities. They also serve hundreds in the greater community by providing a space for belonging and growth. In their four homes, two in DC and two in Arlington, members eat, play, learn, laugh, and grieve together, led by their “core members” – all adults with intellectual disabilities. Through this discussion series, L’Arche hopes to connect with the greater community despite the pandemic and discuss issues that connect us all.
Please join L’Arche for their next two events, Diversity and Disability on Thursday February 18th, and The Disability Advocacy Panel on Thursday March 18th, both at 7 PM. You can RSVP using this link https://larche-gwdc.org/deeper/ .
