Dept of Labor: Overtime Rule Change Discussion

The Department of Labor (DOL) has issued new rules and guidelines for determining which employees are eligible to be paid overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.  These new rules change the amount of salary that an individual must be paid to be exempt from overtime pay.  Currently, the salary level is $23,660.  Effective December 1st, 2016, that same employee would have to be paid at least $913 per week ($47,476 per year) to be exempt from overtime pay.

We know this change will impact our industry.  On Tuesday, October 11th from 3PM to 5PM, please plan to join other providers at My Own Place located at 6495 New Hampshire, Ave., Suite 201, Hyattsville, MD as we discuss:

  1. what is changing;
  2. what it means to the provider community; and
  3. possible options and ways to prepare and address the new Federal overtime standards

We will also hold our monthly meeting at that time and announce the slate of candidates for the coming Board leadership positions.
